A proven all-around streamer that imitates a variety of underwater prey, including leeches, baitfish, crayfish, and larger aquatic insects. The marabou tail creates movement with even a slow retrieve, while the palmered hackle and chenille body give the fly a full, living profile in the water. The Woolly Bugger is effective in rivers, lakes, and ponds and belongs in virtually any freshwater fly box.

Uptide Take There's a reason the Woolly Bugger never really goes away. It doesn't need to imitate one specific food source—it just looks alive. When you're not sure what the fish want, this is one of the flies worth having tied on.
